Mixing Engineer

Hello friend.
My name is David Maria Trapp and I love mixing music.

I’ve been working with artists such as AnnenMayKantereit, Giant Rooks, Roosevelt, Alice Merton, RAZZ, Neufundland, Emma6, Jeremias, OK Kid, Fatoni and some more.

While my main focus is the mixing of records, I at times act as a music producer with a deep love for every part of the music making process.

For more information about my background, workflow & premises see further below.

WORKFLOW

I always try to rely on my intuition and to pursue an open-minded approach to the songs I am working on. My first step is to listen to some of the artist’s and producer’s favourite music to get in the vibe.

Starting from the artist's musical background and the producer’s vision, I incorporate the inspiring feel and unique character of creative analogue processors with the swift and precise workflow of digital tools to enhance and finalize the production.

BACKGROUND

My professional experience reaches back to 2006, working as a sound engineer in both live and studio contexts since then.

Playing the bass in progressive rock band Lake Cisco (since 2009), synthesizers in Neue Deutsche Kelle band Kochkraft durch KMA (2014 – 2017) and having participated in a lot of different music projects, my style roots in experimental and ambitious live setups.

By studying „Ton und Bild“ at the Institut Fuer Musik Und Medien in Duesseldorf, I was able to deepen my musical and technical knowledge and progressed into a confident and flexible decision maker.

With an urge to explore organic and sometimes unconventional sounds, I seek for the best listening experience.

PREMISES

Professional studio monitors & high-end DA-Conversion, that absolutely fit my taste allow for an in-depth analysis of the audio material, complemented by the controlled listening environment of my mixing suite with an attached prepping suite runned by my assistant Vincent Ancot at Maarwegstudios, Cologne.

The workflow of running my digital mixing station into the analogue racks combines a fast workflow and session recallability with the unique sound of my selected outboard.
